DAY 1:

Fly to Managua, via Madrid or the US (other routes available). Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to your starting hotel. Welcome to Nicaragua!

DAY 2:

Transfer to Granada, Nicaragua’s colonial jewel. En route enjoy a guided visit to the Masaya region, including the Masaya Volcano, with lunch in a restaurant overlooking Lake Apoyo.

DAY 3:

Cycle through Granada’s colonial streets to the port area where you’ll board a boat for a wildlife-spotting ride around the Las Isletas. Afternoon City Tour of Granada partly on foot and partly by horse-drawn carriage.

DAY 4:

This morning enjoy a visit to the cloudforest area at the top of the magnificent Mombacho Volcano where you’ll have a hike before some enjoy some thrilling zip-lining. Rest of the day at leisure to relax after a busy morning!

DAY 5:

Transfer to the cool highland area of Matagalpa and enjoy a tour around a local coffee plantation in the afternoon. Option also for horse-riding.

DAY 6:

Hike in a nearby Nature Reserve – the Jinotega Macizo de Peñas Blancas. The reserve is rich in wildlife, rivers, waterfalls and tropical plants.

DAY 7:

Early-morning bird-watching with an expert guide – Matagalpa is an excellent place to spot a whole variety of birds. Afternoon visit a local indigenous community to learn about their weaving traditions.

DAY 8:

Transfer to Estelí, an area renowned for its bright and colourful street murals. Visit a Tobacco Factory to learn about the processes involved in the production of cigars from the initial leaf to shop floor.

DAY 9:

Full-day excursion out to the Somoto Canyon for an energetic day filled with hiking, swimming and canyoning.

DAY 10:

Transfer to León, Nicaragua’s university town. En route, visit local mud-pots and a local community for a demonstration of tortilla making.

DAY 11:

This morning get your adrenalin pumping by dust-boarding down the Cerro Verde Volcano! In the afternoon you’ll have a tour of the city and then time at leisure to explore.

DAY 12:

Transfer to the beach for some well-earned R&R. Choose between San Juan del Sur on the Pacific Coast (above) or the Corn islands in the Caribbean.

DAYS 13 & 14:

Time at leisure  to relax and unwind. If there’s any energy left, why don’t you learn how to surf?

DAY 15:

Transfer to Managua International Airport for your flight home. Farewell Nicaragua!
