DAY 1:

Fly to Managua, via Madrid or the US (other routes available). Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to your starting hotel. Welcome to Nicaragua!

DAY 2:

Fly to San Carlos and transfer to the Solentiname Archipelago in Lake Cocibolca, made up of 36 beautiful islands with a long history of ancient civilizations.

DAY 3:

Enjoy a trip to Los Guatuzos Reserve, visiting the caiman & turtle nurseries, meteorological station and butterfly farm plus the series of hanging bridges where you can view the abundant flora and fauna from a bird’s eye perspective.

DAY 4:

Onwards travel from the Solentiname Archipelago to the San Juan River where you’ll stay in the charming river town of El Castillo. The San Juan River is regarded as an undiscovered paradise for nature lovers and keen fishermen.

DAY 5:

Today you’ll enjoy a hike through the jungle reserve of Indio Maiz.

DAY 6:

Leave the jungle behind and move on to Juigalpa, Nicaragua’s prime beef and dairy region.

DAY 7:

Enjoy a day at leisure. Visit the archaeological museum, hike the surroundings or check out the local goldmines, the archaeological park in Villa Sandino or the sunsets over Lake Cocibolca.

DAY 8:

Transfer from Juigalpa to Laguna de Perlas (translated to Pearl Lagoon), the largest coastal lagoon in Nicaragua and home to a rich ecology of mangroves and river deltas.

DAY 9:

Day at leisure to relax on Pearl Keys’ white-sand beaches lined with palm trees. Alternatively, you can visit a Miskito community to learn about their culture or do some kayaking on the lagoon.

DAY 10:

Transfer to Granada, Latin America’s second oldest city and characterised today by the brightly-coloured Spanish-colonial architecture found throughout the city centre.

DAY 11:

Day to explore the Masaya region, including the volcano, the local market and the local craftsmen in the Pueblos Blancos.

DAY 12:

Transfer to the nearby Isla Zapatera, a volcanic island situated in a shallow and calm area of Lake Nicaragua known as Charco Muerto.

DAY 13:

Day at leisure. The island offers great hiking & fishing, unspoilt beaches and centuries-old petroglyphs, mainly on the small islet Isla El Muerto.

DAY 14:

Take a guided hike through Mombacho Volcano’s cloudforest trails where you spend the night at the scientific centre before transferring back to Managua for your flight home.
